Drawing upon 20+ years of experience and study in yoga and somatics, I work holistically to empower clients to feel resilient, strong and well. The work that I do is complementary to traditional medicine and works to address mental health, chronic illness, injuries and preventative healthcare.
When I started practicing and teaching yoga I immediately realized how healing it could be. The combination of movement with embodied ease was what I longed for (and continue to need) to heal and to feel like myself. I now use my yoga training in all of my adventures and in my daily life. Learning to be still --to relax and let go-- took time and required an ‘unlearning’ of my past patterns. The tools of yoga have helped me to heal burnout and to find joy in everyday life.
Education and Training
Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner– S.E. is a body-based approach to healing trauma. Practicing and training in SE has been a transformative healing process for me as well as for my clients.
In 2018 I completed an 800 hour certification in yoga therapy with Bidyut Bose with the Niroga Instititute in Oakland, CA . My work with Niroga inspired my passion for understanding how yoga and somatics can help in healing trauma.
With a Master's degree in Education from Prescott College and a Bachelor’s in psychology from Boston College, I taught high school environmental science for several years and have a California Teaching credential. My past yoga trainings include a 200 hour training in Ashtanga yoga as well as many other trainings including the Franklin Method, Yoga for Cancer, Yoga for healthy aging, Restorative yoga, Kundalini for children, Yoga for Teens, and Forrest yoga.
I am certified with the International Association for Yoga Therapists (C-IAYT), and Yoga Alliance (E-RYT 500, YACEP). I offer continuing education for yoga teachers through Yoga Alliance.
I hope you'll join me on a path to feel your best, to be able to embrace life, and to face challenges with courage.
